TRADEMARK REGISTRATION
your trademark is important to secure if you are exploring or selling in china.
Many distributors and Chinese e-commerce websites will require this of you before they take on your product, as you can’t license your product to a distributor without a Chinese trademark.
China has first-to-file trademark laws, which means whoever files for the trademark gets the exclusive rights to sell and distribute under that name. It also offers you a level of protection over your brand.
Trademarks are valid for 10 years from the date of filing the application. It’s a long process, and should be started well in advance of your plans to export to China.
